Awards and Recognition
Our commitment to gender equality and creating a truly inclusive workplace is not just about promises and policies. It’s about walking the walk. We are proud to say that not only do our people think we’re doing a pretty good job (see what Our Women have to say), but we have also received some high praise and significant recognition for our work.
Having said that, it’s not the trophies that make us proud – it’s knowing that a strong commitment, backed up by hard work, courage and real action can make great results a reality.
Not unlike the profile of successful Telstra women, Telstra’s tenacity and commitment mean that we are being recognised as a global leader in changing workplaces and changing lives for women, and that makes us proud to be a leader for other companies to follow.
In January 2010, Telstra became the first Australian company to win the prestigious Catalyst Award, the annual global award that honours exceptional initiatives that support and advance women in business. Telstra was recognised for taking an integrated approach to increase women’s representation at senior and pipeline levels and engage men as change agents, creating an inclusive culture of mentoring and networking. Telstra’s results in gender equality were recognised in November 2010 with the inclusion as a Finalist in the 2010 Business Achievement Awards conducted by Australia’s Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA). Each year, EOWA recognises leading non-government organisations which are at the forefront of driving change for more equitable workplaces. Learn more
Telstra was a winner of the 'Best Employer Brand' at the 2010 FEMA’s. Through in-depth research of what’s important to our people in a career, we were able to develop a well-executed employer brand which has made a profound difference to our recruitment and retention of great people. We were acknowledged for developing a brand that resonates throughout the organisation, and initiatives to recognise, reward and retain staff. Learn more
