My future is going above and beyond
At the moment I’m a Cloud Product Manager within Telstra’s Global Enterprise and Services, providing cloud-based products for enterprise and government customers. As part of this role I get to work with different parts of the business – like Mobiles, Chief Technology Office, Global Networks and Telstra Ventures – bouncing ideas off them and working collaboratively together to develop key strategic initiatives for global markets.
When I got the chance to work on a desktop virtualisation project, in the early part of my career, I jumped at the challenge. It was a project I really wanted to lead – and I did, with responsibility for a team of fifteen! When we delivered it to our contact centres in the Philippines, I got the chance to go over there.
After that I was given the opportunity to move over to Cloud products. I also got to be Acting General Manager for a while. All within four years of joining as a Telstra graduate. There aren’t many places where that’s possible.
Now I get to work with global companies, finding the right partners and products to resell and broker to our customers, forging strong strategic relationships with big players in the market.
At Telstra you get access to world-class organisations. I’ve had dialogues with Apple, Google, Microsoft and Cisco, just to new a few.
Plus I get to work with a lot of start-ups in San Francisco and Singapore that are interested in working with us. We have a reputation beyond the boundaries of Australia that is significant and respected globally.
I love that I have free rein to think about new ideas and find ways to bring them to life. My manager has the trust in me to do that. I want to get some global experience and hopefully take a year or two overseas. Telstra gives you the opportunity to push yourself and push the boundaries. It’s exciting that my career could literally follow any trajectory. Here you can definitely go above and beyond.
