My Future is building relationships
I lead a sales team that works with service providers and large carriers across South East Asia to grow Telstra, specifically in the data wholesale market. I’m based in Singapore but my team is also spread across Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines, so I’m always checking in to make sure we’re all connected.
For anyone thinking of joining, I’d say the career experience we offer is exciting and different.
We’re building great relationships with clients because of our reputation. For example, there’s a perception that if Telstra announce something to the market, they’ll always follow through on it. That’s great for sales people because when we speak to customers, we know we can deliver.
Our culture is also invigorating. I’ve never seen so much emphasis put on delivering an exceptional customer experience and that comes from the very top of the organisation. If a customer gives you a challenge, it’s everyone’s priority to come together to find the solution – whether they work in the products, operations or sales side of our business. There’s also mutual trust. Telstra looks to me to deliver, share my ideas and work with my team to fully contribute to our international development.
As team leader, I lead by example and guide my team towards helping to achieve Telstra’s vision. We’re given lots of freedom to explore and grow the business, and we’re really encouraged to use our initiative to identify customers and customise solutions to their needs. It’s an exciting time as we continue to build our brand in South East Asia and expand around the region.
For me personally, working in wholesale is just the beginning – I see an even bigger role that goes beyond carrier services and gets customers really excited about all of our services.
