My future is networking excellence
Right now I’m responsible for proactively operating Telstra’s hosting, cloud and security products and infrastructure. It’s been an amazing journey since I joined the graduate program in 2001 and I can’t imagine anywhere else that would have offered me the growth opportunities I’ve had here.
I began my career in Operations and then moved into Infrastructure Delivery. Next I spent time in Engineering, working on storage and backup for the hosting portfolio, and also in the managed security services portfolio. My next step was into a Technology Manager role responsible for two staff, which quickly evolved into a team of 30 high skilled network and security engineers. Today I am responsible for leading a team of 70 operational people working in the data centre, security and network space.
The culture here is so inspiring and there’s such a range of challenging work opportunities open to you.
I’ve made it my goal to try something different every three years or so. Luckily, I’ve always had leaders who have encouraged me to progress to the next level and enabled me to develop myself.
Working here gives me tremendous exposure to industry trends and the chance to influence how cloud and security technology develops. I want to manage the best data centre and security operations team in the industry and put Telstra at the top of the tree in Asia Pacific. That’s where we are heading and it’s what we’re focused on. Anything’s possible in a growth industry like ours – and I’m excited about what’s to come.
