My future is ever evolving
Because my role involves driving global growth for Telstra, building relationships is a priority wherever I am. We have partnerships in many countries – from agency partners to joint ventures – so I work closely with our sales teams to leverage partner capabilities in different regions and support market development. Creating an eco-system of such scale means we’re able to expand our reach more rapidly around the world.
From my very first interview at Telstra, I was impressed by the dynamism of the management team. They were open and straight-talking, but also ambitious in where they wanted to take the business. Large companies can often become risk-averse but here, our people are hungry for success, switched on and have the customer experience front of mind.
Of all the employers I’ve worked for, Telstra’s culture is definitely my favourite.
It’s a culture that embraces open-mindedness and a willingness to try new things. Colleagues trust each other and genuinely want to collaborate. When I first visited the Melbourne office from Singapore, there wasn’t a single person that didn’t welcome me and discuss how we could work better together.
With the cloud, big data and the Internet of Things (IoT), we live in exciting times and I’m fortunate to work for a thought leader. My broad role means I can influence this revolution and let my team explore new ideas because Telstra trusts me to make the right decisions. We’re in a great position because we have global infrastructure but compete like a challenger brand in international markets outside of Australia.
Singapore is home for now but part of my five-year plan includes moving to Australia with Telstra. I’m always on the lookout for bigger challenges and interesting things. At Telstra, you get both.
