Game on – now you can Job Jam
The competition for talent around the world is intensifying. This means organisations need to get creative in how they attract and retain great people who align with their company values.
There are many different ways we go about finding talented people to join the Telstra team. Believe me, it’s not an easy task to match the right people with the right jobs. So what we do is help people understand what Telstra offers as an employment experience and what we expect of our people in return, to help potential employees understand whether they’d be a good fit.
We look at creative ways of doing this – and sometimes, we push boundaries too. Why? Because it’s important to have a good balance of strategy and innovation so that you can stay ahead of the game. Incidentally, that brings me to the point of this blog.
Gaming is an industry that’s growing rapidly. We’re trying to tap into this trend to help achieve our objective of engaging and attracting people who are customer focused.
That's why we've launched ‘Job Jam’ – a simple digital game aimed at the casual gaming audience, available on both iOS and Android devices from the app stores, and played online.
By using a non-traditional and entertaining way to engage people, the game has the ability to reach a large number of people who may not have yet considered Telstra as a potential place to work.
It’s a playful way to learn about the different careers available at Telstra, and our focus on the customer - no matter what job you’re in. It’s where your stealth and skill will have you creating happy customers and unlocking more challenges to take out the highest score.
It’s fast-paced and at times chaotic. It’s for people who are looking to escape from the ordinary. And believe me, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing since working on this project! It has definitely been challenging (pushing boundaries was never going to be easy) but it’s pretty exciting to be an innovator in the HR industry.
We’re hoping everyone will get addicted to this relentlessly positive, fun and exciting game. Check it out – visit www.jobjam.com.au to download and explore where a career here can take you ;-)
