How we innovate
We define innovation as new ideas, new products or services that overcome a problem or do something in a better, simpler way for our customers. Technology is part of that, but innovation is far more than just technology.
We’re finding ways to expand globally, and to help people connect in new and different ways. We’re also building new businesses in areas such as eHealth, software, tech start-ups and media. Here are just a few of the ways we’re growing to help create a brilliant connected future for everyone.
We want to make sure all Australians have access to healthcare, so we’re creating a truly connected eHealth system across the country. Through Telstra Health, we’re linking patients, healthcare workers, hospitals, pharmacies and health funds to build a safer, more convenient way to manage our health – with patients at the centre.
Chief Technology Office
We’re exploring ground-breaking technologies that will shape how our customers connect in the future and help our business grow in exciting new directions. Whether it’s testing robotics, finding new ways to use 3D printing in our Gurrowa Innovation Lab, or encouraging our people to develop their ideas in our Innovation Hub, we’re committed to being at the forefront of pioneering technology.
Telstra Energy Team
We recently put together a dedicated project team to work out how technology can improve our energy efficiency – and how we might be able to collaborate with other companies on energy initiatives.
We’re helping digital entrepreneurs get the initial boost they need through our backing of start-up accelerator, muru-D. Programs in Sydney, Brisbane and Singapore are helping innovators bring their ground-breaking ideas to life.
We’re investing in cloud storage services and technology for this increasingly important business area, both in Australia and across the Asia-Pacific. We’re dedicated to making sure we can offer customers secure and cloud-ready networks, to help them grow their businesses. Hackathons Our regular internal hackathons allow designers and business experts across the company (and beyond) to find unique answers to modern problems. They can harness their creativity to create inventive solutions that will truly benefit our customers and staff. Internet of Things Challenge The Internet of Things is a world where “smart” devices speak to each other. Our first IoT Challenge in 2015 gave participants, from both within Telstra and externally, the chance to create a connected “thing” to improve city life - whether for safety, business, or the environment - and help make that future a very close reality. We are looking forward to hosting similar events in the future.
These are just a handful of the ways you can be at the centre of innovation to improve customer experiences at Telstra. You might help build long-term global growth with Telstra Software Group or Telstra Ventures.
You could help uncover sustainability initiatives, find new ways to grow in the mobiles market or work on the NBN roll-out or our rising suite of entertainment products. You could be pitching in on new product launches, solving complex engineering issues, helping customers find unique business solutions at our Customer Insight Centres or helping managers navigate their teams.
No matter where you start, you’ll get a world of opportunity to connect to a future created by you.
