As Technical Security Solutions Team Lead, your role will encompass three main areas, technical consulting responsibilities, management responsibilities and commercial responsibilities. Purpose of this role:
This is a Financial Controlling role that ensures accurate reporting of revenue and costs to enhance customer profitability monitoring and control. Effective collaboration with business and finance stakeholders are required to produce information that supports decision-making.
Telstra Purple is the technology services arm of the Telstra group. Our UK team works alongside the Enterprise business to deliver consulting and managed services centred on digital transformation, security and data and analytics.
You’ll be working with the commercial and delivery teams to make sure we properly account for the performance of the large portfolio of projects. We’re looking for someone who can recognise the patterns in performance and their underlying drivers, think about the commercial implications for the business and be able to clearly explain the results to stakeholders in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia.
Your attention to detail will help you prepare the monthly management accounts, the audited financial statements and external compliance documents. But we don’t just need you to explain historic numbers clearly and concisely; you’ll be working closely with other teams to forecast our future performance and help create budget targets for the business.
As we drive growth in the UK we need to make sure our systems and processes scale effectively. You’ll help monitor our reporting processes and financial control framework so they support that growth and play a hands-on role in expense approval and payment and helping us integrate into Telstra International’s systems.
This role will suit someone with a solid grounding in financial accounting who can identify the key issues and trends in a set of numbers and have the confidence and experience needed to work with teams outside finance to support profitability and growth.

Telstra Enterprise (International) has established a plan to achieve profitable growth with increases in EBITDA margin and cash returns. To achieve this, International has launched a new operating model that empowers the regions to own the pre-sales and post-sales relationship with the customer. As part of ensuring that this new operating model is effective, Telstra have embarked on an internal program to improve the overall customer experience.
The role of the Technical Implementation Architect is within the International Project Services team, within the scope of complex projects for our Platinum customers. The intention of the role is to act as the technical checkpoint, interface and owner of project delivered solutions.
Specifically, this role is the enabler of holistic service and delivery design principles to ensure that the solution being delivered has an end-to-end focus, from design through to assurance.
This technical, customer-facing role will work hand-in-hand with Project Managers to coordinate Network and engineering resources, 3rd parties, SME’s and Telstra staff across Service Delivery and Service Management, and will encompass tasks from review of solutions through to low-level design and developing work packages.
Starting with project delivery, enhance the High Level Design (HLD) produced by Technical Pre-Sales and then expand this into a Low Level Design that can be technically implemented during delivery
Be responsible for technical communication between all internal and external technical parties
Arrange and host technical workshops for internal, customer and 3rd party groups
Produce and maintain Low Level Design documentation, which (at a minimum) include:
Design description of how service(s) integration points function
Device specific configurations (such as router configurations, firewall policies, load balancer policies, server OS configurations)
IP allocation requirements (private and public)
Fully determine and specify technical work packages and allocate these to the right technical resources within Telstra for completion
Validate the output from completed technical work packages against the Low Level Design
Identify and capture Telstra Operational Acceptance criteria
Identify and capture Customer User Acceptance criteria
Host solution acceptance sessions with customers and obtain written acceptance from the customer
Perform a technical hand over of the completed solution from delivery into Telstra support
Responsible to the Regional Project Leader for technical design of each project;
Ensure all approved scope changes and change requests are captured in the design;
Collaborate with GE&S, Telstra and external business stakeholders to ensure Projects are delivered to agreed milestones, quality and budgets;
Ensure that Technical Risks and Issues associated with Programs and Projects are appropriately recorded and managed;
Where necessary escalating or advising significant Risks or Issues to the appropriate people, in the first instance this must be the Project Manager;
Ensure Post Implementation Reviews are appropriately undertaken and completed on Projects and Programs under their direction.
Maintain consistency of Telstra governance policies aligned to company strategy
Ensure all Projects under your direction are accurately and fully recorded and maintained in Telstra Project tracking and reporting systems;
Maintain and report on all progress status and metrics required by Telstra and external business stakeholders.

Ensure regular customer engagement is conducted in dealing with any critical issues, in conjunction with the Project Manager;
Pre-sales Support and Business Development
Participate in pre-sales opportunities (as required) as part of new business opportunities, to deliver quality responses, technical estimates and statements of work.
Qualifications and Experience:
Demonstrated experience in a Professional Services delivery setting;
Demonstrated technical experience in the management and delivery of successful Telecom WAN/LAN/GIE/Infrastructure projects
Demonstrated technical experience in the management and delivery of successful IT/ICT Programs, across a range of Programs
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex delivery projects simultaneously;
Demonstrated ability to perform in high-pressure, deadline critical situations;
Experience in a matrix organisation;
Proven track record of operational management including regular reporting, managing budgets, developing talent and strong communication/presentation skills;
Effective and demonstrable influencing and negotiation skills;
Expert oral and written communicator at all organisation levels, effective and compelling presentation skills;
Broad knowledge of commercial, technical and legal issues;
Experienced in mentoring and coaching staff in delivery of Projects and Programs;
Tertiary qualified in IT/ICT, Business, Project Management or a related field, preferably at the post-graduate level;
