Telstra Purple Cyber Security

Telstra Purple’s Cyber Security domain consists of security architects, security consultants, security advisors, and operational security managers. The Role

As Technical Security Solutions Team Lead, your role will encompass three main areas, technical consulting responsibilities, management responsibilities and commercial responsibilities. You will oversee large and complex technical security engagements, manage a team of consultants, work with your fellow Security and Networks Leaders to define the strategy for the Security and Networks domain and the wider Telstra Purple Domain Leads to ensure an aligned cross-domain vision. This is a hands on role and will suit someone career driven that wants to help build a growing security practice, with a passion for technical delivery, people management and strategic planning.

You Will:

  • Lead a team of Technical Security Consultants and Network Security Consultants, responsible for their utilisation, training and career development.
  • Provide senior technical oversight across multiple engagements, acting as a senior point of contact for customer interaction and any escalations.
  • Architect security solutions across multiple technologies and vendors, assisting customers in defining and achieving their security goals.
  • Contribute to the short and long term strategies for the Security and Networks Domain, including the services being delivered, plans to achieve domain targets and recruitment requirements.
  • Assist customers in their strategic security goals, ensuring the correct controls are in place and aligned to both current and future state requirements.         
  • Consult in a variety of technologies for FTSE 100 companies and other Clients in the private and public sectors.
  • Oversee pre-sales activities, providing technical security oversight to Company85’s sales team, costing the level of effort for new engagements, helping to identify new opportunities to generate new business and expanding our services in existing clients.
  • Be supported with training both formal and on-the-job, to ensure you are always learning and keeping abreast of the latest technology innovations.

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • At least 7 years’ experience within the cyber security consulting space.
  • Experience designing and delivering security solutions from any of the following vendors:
    • Symantec
    • Trend Micro
    • Forcepoint
    • McAfee
    • Titus
  • Security Architecture experience across the following security technologies:
    • Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware
    • Cloud Access Security Broker
    • Data Classification/Discovery
    • Data Loss Prevention
    • Intrusion Prevention Systems
    • Intrusion Detection Systems
    • Network Access Control
    • Privileged Account Management
    • Mobile Device Management
    • Next Generation Firewalls
  • Experience recommending and implementing security controls aligned to mitigating business risk and impact.
  • Experience in leading workshops to understand customer requirements
  • Consulting background in taking customers through a cyber-security maturity journey
  • Experience Managing a team of consultants, including mentoring, resourcing and development duties.
  • Experience designing and building
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to accommodate UK/Europe wide travel
  • Experience designing and implementing complex technology solutions
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Client facing experience
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

  • Eligible for UK Security Clearance

Desirable:

  • Security Vendor certifications from Trend Micro, Symantec, Forcepoint
  • Vendor agnostic certifications e.g. CISSP, CISM…
  • Technical certifications e.g. CCIE, PNCSE…
  • Good understanding of either ISO27001, NIST, Government security requirements such as Information Assurance Standards, Good Practise Guides and PSN

Purpose of this role:

This is a Financial Controlling role that ensures accurate reporting of revenue and costs to enhance customer profitability monitoring and control.  Effective collaboration with business and finance stakeholders are required to produce information that supports decision-making.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supporting the month end process ensuring accurate P&L results for the EMEA region
  • Working with Sales, Service Delivery, Contract management, Billing, etc. to accurately report commercial performance to support decision making to optimise revenue and profitability
  • Analysis of EMEA regional financial performance including commentary tailored to stakeholders and ability to support regular business reviews with customer account teams.
  • Preparation of business review working files and presentation
  • Understanding of significant terms and conditions of the contract and ensuring financial implications are appropriately tracked and reported.
  • Maintenance of balance sheet reconciliations and review
  • Ensuring the preparation of monthly journals to accurately reflect the financial performance of the account, including appropriate revenue and cost accruals adjustments.
  • Working with product finance to ensure all revenue is accurately reflected within the correct products and streams and that we have collaboration on the profiling.
  • Working with PO Buyers to ensure COGS is accurately reflected and support PO reviews and clean-ups.
  • Preparation of audit schedules, responding to external audit queries or ad-hoc queries from regulators
  • Other analysis and decision support required to understand, monitor and manage customer profitability

Qualifications/experiences

  • CA/CPA/ACCA qualified
  • 3+ years of relevant experience as a Financial Analyst or Commercial Analyst
  • Telecoms experience desired
  • Big 4 experience advantageous

Telstra Purple is the technology services arm of the Telstra group. Our UK team works alongside the Enterprise business to deliver consulting and managed services centred on digital transformation, security and data and analytics.

 

You’ll be working with the commercial and delivery teams to make sure we properly account for the performance of the large portfolio of projects. We’re looking for someone who can recognise the patterns in performance and their underlying drivers, think about the commercial implications for the business and be able to clearly explain the results to stakeholders in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia.

 

Your attention to detail will help you prepare the monthly management accounts, the audited financial statements and external compliance documents. But we don’t just need you to explain historic numbers clearly and concisely; you’ll be working closely with other teams to forecast our future performance and help create budget targets for the business.

 

As we drive growth in the UK we need to make sure our systems and processes scale effectively. You’ll help monitor our reporting processes and financial control framework so they support that growth and play a hands-on role in expense approval and payment and helping us integrate into Telstra International’s systems.

 

This role will suit someone with a solid grounding in financial accounting who can identify the key issues and trends in a set of numbers and have the confidence and experience needed to work with teams outside finance to support profitability and growth.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform analysis and recognise patterns in data
  • Provide advice based on technical knowledge and recommend improvements to reduce variance

Telstra Enterprise (International) has established a plan to achieve profitable growth with increases in EBITDA margin and cash returns.  To achieve this, International has launched a new operating model that empowers the regions to own the pre-sales and post-sales relationship with the customer.  As part of ensuring that this new operating model is effective, Telstra have embarked on an internal program to improve the overall customer experience. 

The role of the Technical Implementation Architect is within the International Project Services team, within the scope of complex projects for our Platinum customers.  The intention of the role is to act as the technical checkpoint, interface and owner of project delivered solutions. 

Specifically, this role is the enabler of holistic service and delivery design principles to ensure that the solution being delivered has an end-to-end focus, from design through to assurance. 

This technical, customer-facing role will work hand-in-hand with Project Managers to coordinate Network and engineering resources, 3rd parties, SME’s and Telstra staff across Service Delivery and Service Management, and will encompass tasks from review of solutions through to low-level design and developing work packages. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Starting with project delivery, enhance the High Level Design (HLD) produced by Technical Pre-Sales and then expand this into a Low Level Design that can be technically implemented during delivery 

  • Be responsible for technical communication between all internal and external technical parties 

  • Arrange and host technical workshops for internal, customer and 3rd party groups 

  • Produce and maintain Low Level Design documentation, which (at a minimum) include: 

  • Design description of how service(s) integration points function 

  • Device specific configurations (such as router configurations, firewall policies, load balancer policies, server OS configurations) 

  • Cabling plans 

  • Network diagrams 

  • IP allocation requirements (private and public) 

  • Fully determine and specify technical work packages and allocate these to the right technical resources within Telstra for completion 

  • Validate the output from completed technical work packages against the Low Level Design 

  • Identify and capture Telstra Operational Acceptance criteria 

  • Identify and capture Customer User Acceptance criteria 

  • Host solution acceptance sessions with customers and obtain written acceptance from the customer 

  • Perform a technical hand over of the completed solution from delivery into Telstra support 

  • Responsible to the Regional Project Leader for technical design of each project; 

  • Ensure all approved scope changes and change requests are captured in the design; 

  • Collaborate with GE&S, Telstra and external business stakeholders to ensure Projects are delivered to agreed milestones, quality and budgets; 

  • Ensure that Technical Risks and Issues associated with Programs and Projects are appropriately recorded and managed; 

  • Where necessary escalating or advising significant Risks or Issues to the appropriate people, in the first instance this must be the Project Manager; 

  • Ensure Post Implementation Reviews are appropriately undertaken and completed on Projects and Programs under their direction. 

  • Maintain consistency of Telstra governance policies aligned to company strategy 

Reporting 

  • Ensure all Projects under your direction are accurately and fully recorded and maintained in Telstra Project tracking and reporting systems; 

  • Maintain and report on all progress status and metrics required by Telstra and external business stakeholders. 

 

Stakeholder Management 

  • Be ruthlessly client-focussed and make your clients the centre of the world. 

  • Establish and maintain a culture of engaged, professional and effective stakeholder management; 

  • Establish authentic, robust mutually accountable relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers and partners; 

  • Ensure all Project stakeholders are aware of, and deliver on their responsibilities and accountabilities – hold everyone accountable and be vocal about it; 

  • Contribute to Governance forums across their Projects to ensure that both internal and external stakeholders are proactively engaged and informed; 

  • Ensure regular customer engagement is conducted in dealing with any critical issues, in conjunction with the Project Manager; 

 

Pre-sales Support and Business Development 

Participate in pre-sales opportunities (as required) as part of new business opportunities, to deliver quality responses, technical estimates and statements of work. 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Professional Services delivery setting; 

  • Demonstrated technical experience in the management and delivery of successful Telecom WAN/LAN/GIE/Infrastructure projects 

  • Demonstrated technical experience in the management and delivery of successful IT/ICT Programs, across a range of Programs  

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex delivery projects simultaneously; 

  • Demonstrated ability to perform in high-pressure, deadline critical situations; 

  • Experience in a matrix organisation; 

  • Proven track record of operational management including regular reporting, managing budgets, developing talent and strong communication/presentation skills; 

  • Effective and demonstrable influencing and negotiation skills; 

  • Expert oral and written communicator at all organisation levels, effective and compelling presentation skills; 

  • Broad knowledge of commercial, technical and legal issues; 

  • Experienced in mentoring and coaching staff in delivery of Projects and Programs; 

  • Tertiary qualified in IT/ICT, Business, Project Management or a related field, preferably at the post-graduate level;
