  • Provide SME support to the various development teams of utilising Big Data, Cloud (Azure preferred) and CI/CD technologies and concepts
  • Leverage your substantial expertise and experience to create robust and automated pipelines to ingest and process structured and unstructured data from source systems into analytical platforms.  
  • Proactively propose enhanced system designs/architecture to build reliable data flow, combining analytical batch processing, real-time data flows and low-latency APIs
  • Make decisions and implement actions to manage and maintain data and automation platforms through their lifecycles and implement information security controls into the data solution
  • Significantly contribute to the design and build of enterprise analytical solutions by collaborating with business users and technical resources to evaluate and identify new features and architecture that solve challenging problems at scale 
  • Drive data quality across our data pipelines and implement system controls for managing data quality supporting, remediating and updating platforms (DevOps). You take an innovative and creative approach to research data questions and identify strategies to detect and identify the root cause of outliers in data models 
  • Contribute and provide input into the data engineering strategy to optimise data platforms. You lead the design and delivery of data engineering projects to enable the execution of the Data Strategy
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders including business leads, Cloud engineering, security, data architects, business analysts and other technical groups to understand business needs, move data from source to target, and design optimal data modes that enable access to data for different types of users
  • Apply strong inter-personal skills to communicate with and influence vendors, when reviewing product offerings for the integration of new products into platform architecture
  • Provide recommendations, advisory support, coaching and guidance to team members to significantly contribute to building capability and delivering the scope of work    
  • Create high quality, readable, testable, scalable and extensible code that is sustainable while holding yourself accountable for the quality you produce

To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in:

  • At least 8-12 years professional IT experience in the areas of: Data application and platform development, solution delivery, business intelligence, data warehousing, and information management
  • 3-4 years experience in Hadoop (Prefer Cloudera), Kafka, Flume, Spark Streaming, Spark, HBase, Kudu, Hive, Spark SQL, Impala, Parquet
  • 3-4 years experience engineering outcomes utilising cloud-native tools like Data Bricks, Data Factory, ADLS, Analysis Services, Power BI and on large Data Warehousing platforms (SQLDW/Teradata/S3/Big Query/Snowflake)
  • Experience developing on the Azure Cloud, especially with SQLDW
  • Exceptional SQL skills
  • Demonstrated experience in Lean, HCD, Scrum, Kanban & XP
  • Engage and develop relationships with key partners and stakeholders to clearly understand the specific business &/or technology challenges, initiatives, and questions to be answered
  • Experience working within an agile development environment.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic/fast paced environment
