Our purpose

We have two Sydney based permanent full-time opportunities available for experienced Managing Consultants to assist Telstra clients in better managing their cyber security through design, implementation and support of security solutions that meet business and technical requirements.

In addition to your technical expertise, we're also seeking an inspiring, courageous people leader with proven expertise leading a senior, very experienced and credentialed consulting stream.

Reporting directly to the Technical Services Principal (NSW Business Tech Services).

What does a typical day look like?

As the Managing Consultant you'll be responsible for:

  • Provide leadership and, mentoring to other Engineers and Technical staff to ensure development of capability within Telstra.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert across one or more technology domains including but not limited to Network Security, SIEM Analytics, Endpoint Security or Identity Management.
  • Supporting the development of customer solution architecture, design and implementation in consultation with our Architects
  • IT Infrastructure or Network Ops background with interest in Automation, DevOps and infrastructure as code.
  • Lead the technical delivery (install, configure and integrate) of customer solutions in line with functional and non-functional technical requirements based on expertise across one or more vendor technologies.
  • Provide complex technical advice, recommendations and customer consultancy on networks, infrastructure, products and services supplied and operated by Telstra
  • Technical Briefings/Handover - Deliver and/or develop technical training, updates & or briefings to staff to ensure understanding of process & procedures
  • Drive strategic initiatives designed to evolve the capability of our staff to align to strategic roadmaps and build new growth opportunities.
  • Be accountable for the technical deliverables for Architecture, Design and Implementation – ensuring quality deliverables, resolving issues, building customer relationships, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

A bit about you

To be successful in the role you’ll have: 

  • Proven leadership experience in a security solutions division
  • Design and implementation or design and architecture expertise
  • Sound knowledge in technology solutions gained through proven experience of concepts, practices and principles of this discipline.
  • Excellent problem solving skills of moderate to high complexity through analysis, synthesis of potential solutions and test/deployment of technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ITIL compliance, including but not limited to Change Management, Incident Management and Event Management
  • Advanced ability in engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels
