Be excited! Join Telstra Enterprise and represent Telstra’s largest customer undertaking in history. We are looking for a number of exceptional Project Managers to support our flagship client - the Department of Defence.

Telstra Enterprise will deliver for the Australian Defence Force’s Network Infrastructure for the next decade and beyond, supporting military operations in Australian and abroad. You will be part of the journey to transform the defence communication network and be an enabler in its transformation in several communication technologies such as fixed telecommunications, satellite and tactical networks.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the establishment and ongoing management for a program of complex/novel or large-scale projects, for an assigned operational area or segment.


Your key responsibilities and major tasks include, but not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing the Project Management Plan for the project stream, including costing, resourcing, schedule, active and effective risk management and provide this information to the End to End Project Manager for incorporation in the overall project plan and governance processes
  • Ensuring the project delivers the agreed solution within defined quality, time, and cost constraints
  • Providing leadership and direction to the Technology, IT or specialist project team framing the role of the project as a vital part of the larger End to End project, monitoring all wider dependencies and driving clear, collaborative communication with all relevant stakeholders
  • Monitoring & reporting project progress through the End to End Project Manager
  • Establishing & running effective change control process to evaluate, log and implement where approved changes to scope, time, cost including benefit impact
  • Contributing to the continual improvement of project management within Telstra by identifying opportunities to enhance and streamline processes and systems


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Ideally have experience working with Defence Accounts or some exposure to federal government
  • Excellent customer management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a proven record developing positive and transparent stakeholder relationships
  • Proven experience in managing and delivery of infrastructure projects
  • Strong track record applying project management principles, including risk management and benefits realisation planning.
  • Proven experience in delivering projects against specified time constraints and budget
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a proven record developing positive and transparent stakeholder relationships
  • Tertiary qualification and professional certification or accreditation in project or program management in at least one of: PMP®, MSP™, RegPM, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum

Please note: Candidates must be Australian Citizens and have current NV1 clearance minimum to be considered. This role will require you to hold and maintain an Australian Government NV1 security clearance.
