About the role

This role will work within a team of developers and service designers delivering capabilities which will help design and develop new services and products for Telstra’s Product and Enablement Technology group to take to market.

The senior lead will apply standard industry best practices around choice of technology, quality development and optimal process for software delivery ensuring stable production platform.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Follows programming standards to write code that supports agreed software design or requirement
  • Structures code so that it is readable, flexible, secure and modifiable             
  • Writes robust and secure code by following organisational security guidelines and deploying secure coding techniques
  • Adapts programming skills to other languages or paradigms and confidently writes object service-oriented code  
  • Applies coding/scripting skills to different purposes          
  • Performs continuous integration using a CI server to run the build automatically in response to changes in the code base
  • Follows relevant guidelines for code documentation and commenting
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in developing application or automated tests for network software applications (API & Web protocols)
  • Accountable for follow up with all the extended teams to resolve issues reported by customer
  • Work with testing team members to ensure all production releases/updates are of acceptable quality and without any issues for customer.
  • Be a part of Agile team to deliver business values on regular basis. Follow all the agile ceremony and participate actively in them
  • Work with Team and product owner to deliver goals set by Team/Product Owner
  • Mentor and Coach all the Junior developers in team to improve their skills.

Your skills & experience:

Essential:

  • 10+ years of experience in development
  • Hands on experience with Agile Tools (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Bamboo)
  • Hands on experience with front end development: JavaScript, React.js/Redux (understanding of   hooks), Webpack
  • Hands on experience with back end development: Node.js/Express, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle DB, SQL
  • Hands on experience with containers & Orchestration: Docker, Docker compose, AWS services
  • Knowledge on CI/CD tools like Bamboo, BitBucket etc.
  • Knowledge on Security ie. SAML, SSO etc
  • Hands on experience with Agile Tools (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Bamboo)

Desirable:

  • Hadoop, Apache Impala, Apache Thrift, NGINX, Kubernetes, AWS code deploy, code pipeline, JWT, OATH
