The role with us,

The Organic Social Media Editor will create and facilitate activity on Telstra’s primary social media channels with a focus on organic social media. They will become the ‘voice’ of Telstra on some social channels through our Always On program, and support team members to execute campaigns.

We’ve grown a strong organic social following across all our channels and this role will help us bring our brand to life on social. We want to engage, entertain and connect with our followers to turn our customers into fans, and this role is at the forefront of that goal. The editor will ideate, create, schedule, curate, edit, publish and amplify content in support of campaign and communications objectives. They’ll own some of Telstra’s social channels, helping build an engaged organic community of followers and are also expected to lead copy writing across Telstra’s social channels.

Applying their expertise, the Specialist will share insights and promote innovation, driving improvement in Telstra’s use of key social media channels. They will also work collaboratively in managing issues as they arise on internal and external social media channels.

Generic Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of channel strategy for primary social media channels (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
  • Lead development, production and execution of Always On Social Media content programs in partnership with the Channels Lead
  • Act as copy writing and tone of voice champion for all content produced by Content & Channels team including both internal and external channels
  • Proactively manage channel content plans, ensuring regular flow of high quality content aligned with the channel strategy
  • Ensure the Social Media Playbook, Telstra Brand Guidelines and relevant style guides and optimisations (e.g. SEO) are consistently applied to all channels
  • Review channel and program performance regularly, then share and apply actionable insights
  • Support management of issues on internal and external channels in partnership with relevant stakeholders
  • Publish content on internal and external channels
  • Amplify content on internal and external channels, optimising to maximise return on investment
  • Manage channels governance, ensuring agreed policies and procedures are applied (e.g. password and access management)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Excellent creative writing skills
  • Experience in Commissioning, editing and writing content for popular brands
