Key Accountabilities:

As a Chapter Lead, Telstra Software Engineering, your role is two-fold where you will combine your strong expertise in Software Engineering with people leadership in order to create, enhance and retain a high performing chapter. This is a strategically important role within Telstra where you will be working closely with the Chapter Area Principal to understand and plan workforce capability needs – both current and future. You will be a critical contributor in ensuring that the Telstra Software Engineering teams deliver a world class customer experience for our consumer and business customers. Your work ensures the connection between platforms, applications, services and products provides a seamless experience that drives Telstra’s competitive advantage.

You will be joining the Telstra Software Engineering, Orchestration Chapter in Telstra in one of our ICC locations (Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad) and will lead a Chapter with team members predominantly based in Pune.

The Orchestration chapter provides the skills and expertise that support customer order capture and network management. We enable composition and orchestration of Telstra's existing and emerging products and service offerings via our innovative solutions. Today we design, develop and support large platform based capabilities to serve our product missions as well as deliver a range of discrete and independent microservice capabilities such as appointments, service qualification, and a range of domain managers. As we look to the future, the Orchestration chapter will manage key service exposure for third parties, manage and orchestrate the associated workflows and enable not just connectivity, but digital product network management as discrete services. New and emerging capabilities will also be developed through Open API standards and Open Digital framework.

This Chapter Lead role is for an area specialising in microservices that support the activation of products and services in the network, and BSS layer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own the engineering operations for the services that the DevOps teams have deployed in production.
  • Work across teams to foster an architecture that enables iterative, autonomous development and future scaling. Provide guidance to multiple teams in anticipation of future use cases, helping them make design decisions that minimize the cost of future changes.

  • Foster a culture of observability across several teams and help them use operational data to improve stability and performance of their domains.
  • Actively collaborate with the security team, to foster and model a security first mindset and apply the organization's security strategy across multiple teams. Be able to guide teams through these processes and continuously improve this culture.
  • Demonstrate and influence effective decision making and responsible actions, without having the total picture to handle risk, change, and uncertainty across several teams during routine business, as well as when in high pressure situations.
  • Actively build a culture of knowledge sharing and documentation that is based on giving and receiving positive and constructive feedback.  Use this as a base for continuous learning and capability building.
  • Significantly contribute to function and organisation strategy, practices and planning by drawing on your expertise and thorough understanding of the work across multiple team domains.
  • Actively models Telstra’s values and facilitates inclusive discussions across multiple teams that create goal driven alignment with organisational strategy and principles, as well as identifying actionable continuous improvement opportunities.
