Our Global Business Services (GBS) function brings together and radically simplifies customer service operations and internal support services. We enable innovation, both for our consolidated function as well as for other areas of Telstra.

Telstra Property manages over 18,000 tenures on behalf of the Telstra group of companies via a property database platform. Data Management and integrity is core to ensuring the property team manage all obligations and commitments including rent payment and administration. The data management function is key to high quality customer service and operations, enables seamless digital processes & partner / landlord experience and is underpinned by strong governance, architecture, and data exchange.

The role with us

  • As the Property Tenure Resolution Manager, you will undertake a pivotal compliance function and be responsible for property acquisition protocols and resolving complex tenure matters of real estate occupancies within Telstra Group’s property team. Compliance with key property acquisition and tenure management policies and procedures ensures Telstra’s property interests are protected and adhere to with all internal and external policy and legislation.
  • You will be responsible for a range of escalated, complex, unique and difficult tenure matters that are outside the usual BAU property transaction scope delivered by our outsourced transaction teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Taking carriage of all tenure resolution escalations and provide subject matter expertise and technical advice to internal stakeholders (functional landlord, network acquisition, program and operate leads, risk management teams, executives) on all tenure compliance-related matters so that current obligations/principles are understood
  • Using effective communication to ensure teams are both informed and trained when new legislation/policies come into effect.
  • Engaging with and effectively influence a range of stakeholders (external vendors, regulatory bodies, and internal Telstra teams) on property tenure matters
  • Using your subject matter expertise to effectively identify, analyse, and manage complex tenure/ property compliance issues across the organisation
  • Assessing and resolving potential issues/breaches and report outcomes to the Property executive or Audit and Risk Committee as appropriate
  • Appling your excellent subject matter expertise, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills to influence and engage stakeholders
  • Managing Telstra property interests with relation to Government and related bodies including access to tenures in Crown land, indigenous land councils’ agreements and statutory access rights in relations to Telstra groups structures and assets
  • Interfacing with office of the CEO on property related general queries received
  • Assisting to manage Telstra Group’s physical and digital land title holdings

About you

To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in:

  • Exposure to property freehold, lease, and tenure management. 
  • Have strong commercial negotiation experience.
  • Contract documentation, administration, and management.
  • Power of Attorney authority
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Telecommunications act and regulatory environment

Highly desirable qualification(s):

  • Legal training/degree qualified
  • Management of outsourced partners in Property management and legal services
