About the role
As TPO of Data Platforms you will lead a self-organising DevOps team to deliver data use cases.  You will work in a dynamic and complex environment.

As a Technical Product Owner Senior Specialist, you thrive on enabling technical capability teams to develop and operate capabilities, applications and platforms to deliver measurable value to the business and operational efficiency. You authentically engage with and effectively influence a diverse stakeholder landscape within N&IT and across Telstra, to drive realistic and ambitious operational and customer outcomes. 
 

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will: 

  • Act as the overarching technical product owner within the Group, partner with Engineering and collaborate with users, stakeholders and product owners across Telstra to align your technical capability vision with the Group and Telstra’s strategic priorities, so that it drives and continually improves modular, reusable technical capabilities and components.
  • Actively manage the end-to-end development, delivery, execution, integration requirements and lifecycle management and optimisation of technology products and services to enable risks, issues, dependencies, timeline and costs to be managed.
  • Collaborate with the team, stakeholders and mission product owners to discover usability concerns and functional gaps and generating insights that uncover feature enhancement solutions.
  • Lead the definition, management and scheduling of work to manage the operational lifecycle of the technical capability and applications, including support, maintenance and capacity planning.
  • Partner with engineering in the deployment and execution of operational and business acceptance activity, including managing post-deployment issues from root cause analysis through to resolution.
  • Lead the identification and management of unit cost reduction opportunities, including managing any technology vendors’ design, development, delivery and operation, to continuously improve productivity and cost to operate.
  • Collaborate to shape and influence a culture of transparency by producing data to demonstrate and track delivery achievements and concerns, operational performance and health, and providing input to the wider team for capability performance, growth and learning.
  • Develop and champion business cases and funding bids to enable the team to maintain operational performance and deliver their work, and ensure the team operates within its budget constraints.
  • Foster a culture of collective ownership and accountability for the work completed within the team and assist the team to implement effective fit for purpose development and operational practices.

About you 

The right candidate will have the following:

  • Partner with data chapter to ensure resource levels, costs and candidate capability is upheld.
  • Partner with the team to continually improve agile and DevOps processes and tooling
  • Trust the team and work with them to maintain a culture of empowerment, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Work with external missions and their stakeholders to ensure alignment of priorities, dependencies and delivery timelines
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and timelines in external missions and re-prioritise as necessary to ensure the DNA team is continually delivering the highest value stories
  • Maintain a prioritised backlog of epics aligned to external missions
  • Partner with BA and engineers to create and maintain a prioritised backlog of user stories encompassing new scope, tech uplift/refactoring and ops enhancements
  • Manage the team budget across funding from multiple missions
  • Define and evolve the vision, roadmap and strategy of Data Platforms, ensure new requirements are aligned to this.
  • Ensure DNA team is adhering to incident, problem and change management standards
  • Protect the team from outside noise
  • Collaborate with the GO on creation of the group game plan and track your quarterly KRs against this game plan
  • Ability to lead and methodically steer end-to-end problem solving

  • Knowledge of Data warehouse and Data Lake

  • Able to build Cloud consumption reporting and tracking
  • Working closely with the Chapter, to manage resource performance
  • Manage risks and impediments
  • Strong understanding of agile principles and comfortable with applying the principles of agile
  • Strong Jira and Confluence skills
  • Stakeholder management, collaboration & negotiation
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and changing environment
